HAPPY COWS

Happy Cows are cows that live their life in the happiest conditions possible. The Cows are respected and taken care of in the best of manners. The well-being of the Cows is cherished in many ways. The calves may live with their mother as long as a child and a mother should live together. They are together full time at least half a year, and even afterwards the close relationship carries on - even when the calf no longer needs milk. The calves are not dehorned. Whenever a bull is born, the commitment is to keep him as an ox.

The Cows may wander freely and they are only tethered for short times when necessary, usually during operations to ensure the safety of the cow as well as the cattleman. The Cows may pasture as much as possible, however taking in consideration the weather conditions in Finland. They are Fancy Tails who don't like too much mud and cold.

Happy Cows provide us with milk of extremely high quality - a real nutrient. Taking care of the welfare of the Cows also means they are not over-milked. The Cows eat roughage for fodder, and are only given concentrated fodder as a "thank you treat". With this diet the amounts of milk are of course lower, however our Cows are keeping super fit. As long as the Cows have been with us, they have never needed a veterinarian to visit them!

When a Cow no longer provides milk, she can carry on her life as a pensioner until she naturally passes away (naturally adhering to national regulations regarding animal protection).
